The terminal

Coming soon

Tabs, split panes, search and links in the Taller's terminal, designed for working with agents.

The Taller's terminal is the same one used by the best-known code editors, with a few additions designed for working with AI agents.

Tabs and panes

Terminals are tabs, just like files. Drag a tab to the edge of a pane to split the screen and have two terminals side by side, for example an agent working and a free terminal for your own commands.

Agent tabs show who the agent is and its live status: working, waiting for your answer, done, or done and not reviewed.

Cmd-F (on Windows and Linux, Ctrl-F) searches everything the terminal has shown, with highlighting, case matching and regular expressions.

When you click a link inside the terminal (a web address, a file path or a workspace), a small menu opens with what you can do: open it in the Taller's browser, in your system's browser, or copy it.

  • With Cmd-click (on Windows and Linux, Ctrl-click) you open it directly.

  • If a file is already open in another tab, the Taller takes you to that tab instead of opening it twice.

Copy context

Right-click in a terminal → Copy context copies the latest things that happened in that pane. It's useful for pasting an agent's output into another tool or a conversation.

Copying from terminal programs

Many terminal programs (tmux, Neovim and others) copy to the clipboard in a special way. The Taller allows this by default, so copying works the same on your computer and on a remote machine over SSH. You can turn it off in the terminal settings.

Themes

Choose the terminal's colors in its settings. If you already have themes in other terminals, you can import them.

Which shell opens

  • macOS and Linux: your usual shell ($SHELL) opens as a login shell, so it loads your personal settings.

  • Windows: you can choose PowerShell or CMD.

[ -n "${BASH_VERSION:-}" ] && [ -f "$HOME/.bashrc" ] && . "$HOME/.bashrc"
